  • The Red Butte concert series is underway, the garden is in full swing and events have begun pt. 2
    Jun 30 2021

Thank goodness for the inspiration of so many to have the U of U dedicate 100 acres for our Red Butte botanical garden that is known for their conservation and environmental education. Executive Deputy Director, Derreck Hansen, is thrilled for the Red Butte concert series which is underway. The garden is also hosting events and is the most stunning back drop for weddings and summer camp hosting 250 events yearly. You also have to check out the kids garden area made just for them, or find out about gardening classes with water conservation tips. As we all initiate self-care, the Yoga, mindfulness meditation and Tai Chi classes are a hit.

The Red Butte Garden’s Mission is to connect people with plants and the beauty of living landscapes which they do every day. Check out all that’s happening at redbuttegarden.org.

  • The Downtown Farmers Market supports local first Part 2
    Jun 22 2021

30 years ago, Downtown Alliance started our first Farmers Market in Salt Lake City to support our farmers, ranchers, artist and food vendors growing to 190 food vendors and 190 artists. The Winter market kicked off 8 years ago and is now in the Gateway which Director, Allison Einerson, loves. Even though they have had some contraction with the market due to Covid restrictions on spacing, Allison is seeing new ideas and vendors taking advantage of the low barrier to entry. Allison can rightfully boast about businesses that launched and took off because of the Downtown Farmers market like Rico Foods, Beltex Meats and the Soap Lady to name a few. Don’t forget to find out about the canning classes and especially Allison’s bread and butter pickling class. The Downtown Farmers Market supports locals first and their mission is shopping to show our farmers and ranchers the love. June 5th is the open date.
