In this episode of Redefining Resilience, Chris sits down with Martel Johnson, one of our talented personal trainers, to dive deep into his journey. Martel shares his background, from his early days in weightlifting to how his environment shaped his growth as both an athlete and a coach. They also explore Martel's approach to personal training, what motivates him to push his clients, and how he creates personalized plans for success. Plus, you won’t want to miss the story of Martel’s worst training experience—it’s a lesson in resilience all on its own.
Martel has been a resident of Indianapolis for about 15 years, though he originally hails from South Bend, IN. With five years of experience as a fitness coach and personal trainer, Martel brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of how the body moves and functions, both physically and mentally. He has had the privilege of working with a diverse group of clients from all walks of life, and while he shares his expertise, he continues to learn and grow with each new experience.
Martel’s passion for helping others and giving back to the community has also driven him to pursue a career as a firefighter, allowing him to make an even greater impact in the community he grew up in. In his downtime, Martel enjoys spending time with his wife, Sara, and their dog, Moon. Together, they look forward to traveling and exploring the beauty the world has to offer.
