MORE THAN MUSIC

By: More than Music Podcast
  • Summary

  • The idea of More Than Music brought Chris and Thibault together to engage musicians, artists, and those who surround them to talk about how their pursuits have affected the rest of their lives. The often overlook reality is that dedicating oneself to ones art is not all about the euphoric moments of creation and expression. It requires a commitment that can take precedence over almost everything else in your life, resulting in lost relationships, financial hardships, alcohol and drug addictions, a strong sense of isolation and so much more. The pursuit of art and the idea of suffering for it are traits that go against what society portraits as important to life. There are dangers, pitfalls, and unhealthy patterns that can come in living an inspired and dedicated life to the arts. More than music is a podcast that engages our guests into a reflection of how they navigate themselves to try and find harmony, balance and more importantly what they do to maintain it.

  • S01.E07 - Chris Colohan
    Apr 29 2022

Chris Colohan is somewhat of a mythical figure in the hardcore scene. He has fronted some bands that have attained cult like status such as Cursed, Left For Dead, The Swarm, Burning Love, Ruination, Countdown To Oblivion, and his current project Sect.

He has released records on almost all formats, and we say this because Cursed released an 8 track last year. He used to run a record label called High Anxiety, He has had multiple art exhibitions, he has published two books, "Negative Space", and "No he is not sleeping". He is a powerful magnate in the cooking world with Vegan Magic.

He has travelled the world playing music and even though his body has started to rebel and realize how old he is, his brain and heart will never acknowledge it and he’ll always keep moving on. Hence the mythology surrounding Chris Colohan.

I’m sure anyone who knows Chris can imagine the eye roll and the humorous vitriol that is about to come out of his mouth over this intro.
