In this episode of The Whole Truth: Motherhood and the Writing Life, Nadia Mahjouri chats with Dr Lucy Christopher, author of Release, Stolen and many other works, including Adult, YA, Middle Grade and Children's literature, both fiction and non fiction. She is a Senior lecturer in Creative Writing at University of Tasmania and is currently on maternity leave with her first baby, now six months old.
We discuss matrescence and how the brain changes in the first year after birth and how Lucy is managing to fit writing into the cracks between naps, feeds and baby cuddles. We discuss how her writing focus has changed lately and how the book Matrescence: On the Metamorphosis of Pregnancy Childbirth and Motherhood by Lucy Jones has helped to make sense of the changes that come with new motherhood.
