Literacy through Libraries

  • Summary

  • Today, a book can be bought with just a touch of a button. What’s more, it could be entirely read on a small device. Despite these technological advancements, there are children who cannot access books at all in India.

Tata Trusts’ Kal Ka Classroom talks about their initiatives that work towards improving the Indian education system. In this episode, we learn about the path-breaking work that the Parag Initiative has done to encourage building of local, community, school and personal libraries of children’s literature. In particular we look at how the district of Yadgir in Karnataka, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when children lost all contact with their schools, teachers and libraries, made literature

    accessible.
