Light Conversations with Bhaskar Podcast - Julie Bloom
Our conversation serendipitously started with this beautiful quote:
"The essence of life is to communicate love."
What followed is a deep exploration of compassion, how it is different from pity, sympathy and empathy, and what role compassion has in organizations.
Julie's superpower, in my eyes, is her genuine compassion. As Bob Dylan wisely sang, "there is no success like failure, and failure is no success at all". Julie's compassion blossomed as she learned and practiced radical self compassion to come out of the PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) that she suffered from her workplace experience.
Julie holds a Master’s degree in Education, and has been teaching at the college and university level for 20 years. She is also a certified professional coach and specialist in recovery and addictions. Her mission is to put human well-being at the heart of organizations. She shares her personal experiences with vulnerability, her best strategies, and her interest in neuroscience. Her skillset allows her to create an easily accessible understanding of cognitive and emotional functioning and offer powerful solutions to stress, anxiety and psychological suffering. She is a catalyst for change in destigmatizing mental health challenges.
