    In 1964, Dhanush Kodi, a forgotten city on Pampan Island, was destroyed by a cyclone. The storm destroyed 5,000 houses and 700 fishing boats in Sri Lanka, causing at least 1,800 deaths and leaving many missing in Dhanush Kodi. The Madras government declared the city a ghost town and uninhabitable. Now the area has a population of around 500 people and more than 50 fishermen's huts, who mainly depend on fish and tourist income. It once housed a railway station, a small railway hospital, a higher secondary school, post office, customs, port offices and some remnants of the railway line. Praying for those poor people who died prematurely and hoping for a better future for all.
