Justin Langer on Ben Stokes, rebuilding and mental challenges

  • Summary

  • Australia's all-time leading first class run scorer and current men's cricket head coach Justin Langer joins The Eddie Jones Coaching Podcast this week.

Speaking ahead of the Twenty20 and One Day International series against England, Langer opens up on the rebuilding job he faced after taking charge following the ball-tampering scandal in 2018 where Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft were vanned, and how he went reintegrating them back into the team. He also opens up on 'the worst day of his career' as Ben Stokes' innings won a memorable Ashes game at Headingley in 2019 and the method he used to get the team to focus overcoming that disappointment to win the series.

Along with Eddie and RFU director of performance Conor O'Shea, Langer also talks about preaching excellence, the mental challenges of being on tour in cricket and why he is glad he has experienced the tough times.
