Just to Pasta Time

  • Summary

  • I'm Alex Ianniello, cook, food photographer and now podcast host! I live for mealtimes like most people, but it's not just the end result that I'm interested in. The recipe, the cook behind the dish, all aspects of putting food on the table interest and inspire me. During my teens, I had my first encounter with adversity. I suffered a brain injury following a bad car accident, forcing me to drop out of education and focus on getting better both physically and mentally. Fast forward ten years and I've now graduated from culinary school but injuries have kept me out of professional kitchens and so I explore my passion in other ways through writing, photography and building a community around food. Now I'm here with a space to share stories, a place where we can talk about overcoming adversity. Food and cooking have helped me enormously through tough times, now I want to hear what's helped others. Sit down with me and some familiar faces as we explore food, community, identity, purpose and success. In each episode, we'll be covering the past, the present and the future as we reflect, show gratitude and try to find that secret ingredient to dealing with life's challenges. So if you're feeling ‘cannelloni’, come join us for an hour ‘orzo’ on Just to Pasta Time. Find me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/justtopastatime/

    Sep 26 2024

In this episode of ‘Just to Pasta Time’ Alex is joined by a blonde, Brummie Babe, Kitty Scott-Claus.

Born Louis Westwood in 1992, Kitty shot to fame after competing on season three of RuPaul's Drag Race UK where her wit, humour and uncanny impressions of gay icons bagged her a place in the final.

Since then, Kitty has been no stranger from our screens, to competing on celebrity MasterChef and finishing in a respectable fifth place, to taking on the mammoth task of turning Ian Beale himself into a sickening drag queen on ITV's Queen for the night.

“I was never bullied in school, but I was always aware that I was different to everyone else” he says “everyone had aspirations of working in business or making millions. I just wanted to make people laugh”.

In this episode, we explore Louis's journey, starting with his childhood and his transition from musical theatre to drag, including the inspirations behind his drag persona. We then look at the present and the impact of Drag Race on his career, discussing how Louis balances his personal and professional life. Finally, we look ahead to Louis's future aspirations and his views about returning to Drag Race for an all-stars season.
