Today’s holiday is one that is actually celebrated on the first Saturday in February annually, which happens to be today - Saturday, February 6. It’s time to put on the stretchy pajama pants folks, cause today eat ice cream for breakfast day! Perhaps like most wacky holidays out there, eat ice cream for breakfast day started out of pure boredom. It was the 1960s, and a Mother of 6, Florence Rappaport began this tradition on a snowy winter day in Rochester, NY. She decided that with the gray skies and snow, she needed something for her kiddos to look forward to. This holiday has actually become an INTERNATIONAL sensation, with confirmed celebrations from China to Israel, too! I’m so glad that this holiday is not limited to just kids, because it seems like every time I asked to eat ice cream for breakfast when I was a youngster, the answer usually went like this - when you’re a grownup, you can eat whatever you want. Well, I sure wish I knew about this holiday back then, but at least I do now, so take that mom and dad! Banana splits for breakfast for all! If you want to be the coolest parent around, embrace this holiday! Tell your kids in advance about it and make it a big family celebration every year. This could be the beginning of a beautiful and delicious tradition. In the middle of winter in tough year, what better way to bring a smile to the whole family’s faces than a a few scoops of ice cream with a fresh waffle? Or, enjoy my personal favorite, an affogato - which is espresso poured over ice cream. Count me in! Happy Holiday everyone - and I’ll see you tomorrow. https://todayaholiday.com/eat-ice-cream-for-breakfast-day/ Photo by Ross Sokolovski on Unsplash
