  • Summary

  • There is no holiday more strongly associated with horror, with all things creepy, frightening, and supernatural, than Halloween. It's the time of year when creatures of legend come alive, on tv and movie screens, in kitschy decorations, as suffocating rubber masks in costume shops. Witches and werewolves, zombies and vampires and ghosts all pour out into the streets, heading from door to door to ask for candy and play a few Halloween tricks. But the holiday goes beyond family friendly entertainment like pumpkin carving, haunted hayrides, and trick or treating. It represents a time when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest, when dark and mysterious forces can reach across the great divide and take hold.
