This week 'Heritage Is...' explores artificiality in the heritage sector, looking at the role and use of replicas and questioning to what extent we should be making use of these replacement resources. • Heritage is...a Butchered Bull.
    Sep 2 2022

In this week's exploring of what Heritage Is...we begin to consider the issue of animal rights within intangible heritage. Focusing on bulls, we will explore traditional cultural practices in Spain, France, South Africa and Indonesia, asking whether or not certain traditions should be brought to a halt because of their exploitative relationships with animals, or whether or not external voices should step aside and allow source communities to reach points of realization on their own terms.

As always, please come and have a chat with me about these themes at Kasuutta or Heritage_Is.

In the news, we have a quick look at the return of Open Doors, and promote the 'The Protection of Heritage in time of Conflict' conference coming up on the 17th of September.
