  • A man from Southern Labrador has been honoured with the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador. Guy Poole of St. Lewis has walked 4,000 kilometres in the past 19 years in a fundraiser he created called Liz's Walk. It was named for Poole's wife, who died of complications from diabetes. The walk has taken Poole across much of the Big Land as well as the island, and he's raised 400-thousand dollars for diabetes research and awareness. Last week, he was one of eight people who received the province's highest honour. Guy Poole spoke with the CBC's Gavin Simms.
