  • Poco prima di mezzanotte i responsabili della ricerca e soccorso della Geo Barents hanno riunito in mensa le persone che sarebbero salite sui due gommoni semi-rigidi che materialmente soccorrono le persone in mare: è stato segnalato un peschereccio con quasi 200 persone a bordo, a circa 180 chilmetri dalle coste libiche. Il barcone è sovraccarico ma non rischia di ribaltarsi, almeno per il momento; la situazione rimane comunque complicata: soccorrere una barca strapiena, di notte, non è mai semplice. Può imbarcare acqua, ribaltarsi, il motore può prendere fuoco: a quel punto tutti si butterebbero in acqua, rendendo enormemente complicati i soccorsi.
