Futuro Conference: The future of Commuter Rail from future leaders

By: John Davidson
  • Summary

  • How can commuter rail stop being a victim and start to lead change? Commuter rail has experienced a vast culture shock, where the shorthand of life has suddenly become unrecognisable. Throughout 2023 Trenitalia UK trialed a proof of concept scheme called Futuro, which took a subset of potential future leaders, gave them problem solving frameworks and left them to propose solutions. In January 2024 that group fed back their findings, and were joined by fellow future leader Callum Swanston who works elsewhere in rail, plus a variety of UK and international senior railway leaders.
