  • Welcome to Flat and Thru with Liv Green and Leslie Smith! We are diving into all things Field Hockey. In this podcast, we will be talking to coaches and recent graduates of all divisions and conferences, support staff, former club coaches and overall “hockey heads” about an array of topics that cover situations beyond the technical and tactical parts of the game. We are going to explore topics such as differences in collegiate divisions, daily life as a SA, mental health, physical training, coaching philosophies, recruiting during COVID, and more. We will also be talking about the relationships we build, the triumphs and struggles we face, the lessons we learn along the way, and the process from the first time we pick up our stick until the last. Our goal is to be an informational and relatable source for you! Overall, we want to bring attention and create more awareness around collegiate field hockey at all levels. Our target audience is all field hockey minded individuals and anyone else who would like to gain insight on field hockey at the higher level. We're so happy you're here!

  • Two Roads Diverged w/ Twins: Ellie & Karen Seid
    Jul 27 2021

Welcome to our 11th episode of Flat and Thru! Today, we have a unique and fun episode for you all. We chat with identical twins, Ellie and Karen Seid. Ellie and Karen played D1 field hockey and both graduated college in 2019. We excitedly jumped into the conversation about twins through the lens of sport, and we were eager to hear about their unique, shared experience of playing field hockey. Our episode covers their journey getting into field hockey together and playing together through middle school and high school until their paths diverged when they went to different universities. Ellie graduated from Brown University, and Karen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. We dive into their individual recruiting processes, what they each wanted in a college, difficulties they faced being apart for the first time, lessons learned, and as always, we share a bunch of laughs. Enjoy!
