    May 19 2023

Another solocast musing on the repetitions of life. The, "This, again?! I thought I'd worked through this!" feeling that can arrive as we move through big life transitions. Happy listening.

I'm being brought back to that work again now. I'm being brought back to deep inner knowing and the many, many, many, many videos that were recorded that are so filled with so much wisdom that I am now benefiting from. This is where the timelineing comes in. Like, thank you, Jana, for pouring all of that into the world because I need it now. And part of my coming home is receiving myself and looking at myself and letting the wisdom that I once spoke land again in my body and guide me back home.

Something that I've heard a lot over the years is does this ever end? Does the work ever end? And the way I see it is like you know one day we come to a mountain we've been walking around da da da da da happy and we come to a mountain and we're like oh my god how am I gonna get through the mountain and we find that in our hand we have a spoon an ordinary spoon nothing special about the spoon

and we spoon our way through the mountain, a little tiny tunnel through this massive mountain. And for a lot of us, we can probably remember those times and reflect on those times when we were spooning our way through mountains. And we finally get through the mountain, we go, oh my goodness, I got through that journey is over. And lo and behold, we go on our merry way and do, do, do, do, do find ourselves back at the same place again.

And we're like, the mountain again? Oh, wait, I created a little tunnel and I still have a spoon in my hand. So we spoon a little bit more and each time we come back to the same point in the mountain, we spoon out more, we spoon out more, we spoon out more until we have a tunnel and the mountain comes and we know where the tunnel is and we move through that mountain with grace and with ease in a way that isn't as strenuous to our system, but it doesn't mean that the mountain doesn't exist.

EP06 The Coronation, Colonization & The Somatics of Whiteness

Yana Fay Dzedze is an interdisciplinary artist, forever eager to marry the contradictions of life through her work. Her first book, The Fire in my Belly, journeys a quest to belong in a world of cultural differences. Yana draws on her own life stories to bring a sense of poetic intimacy to those who engage with her. Her words decorate feelings as she thinks out loud through her art and taps into the essence of what it is to journey through life. Deep thinking and enchanted by obscurity, she champions the wholeness of humans and seeks to give others permission to live honestly expressed, curious and full lives. Living in South Africa, Yana lives her life immersed in cultural and racial conversations. She offers a gentle articulation and facilitation of these themes and stands firmly for subtle revolution, made of many small acts of commitment to a better world that amount over time.

EP05 Nompikazi Mokgatle - A Full Yes for Life!

Nompikazi Mokgatle doesn't define herself as an influencer but rather a consumer whose journey has led her to develop a lifestyle brand that seeks to deliver lush experiences based on her own experiences. She continues to forge ahead with the mission in mind for lifestyle brands to maintain the consideration for African consumers to remain front of mindThe way that we met was quite an experience and one of the massive blessings that came from a really dark place. In March 2020 I was in a Detention Centre at O.R Tambo International Airport. She encouraged her husband, who is a lawyer, to represent me and so our very first in person meeting was two hours before the very first lockdowns hit, gifts in hand and smiles at the fact that I was in my husband’s arms. The four of us became very good friends.
