  • 39: A Little Kristen Stewart as a Treat
    Mar 14 2022

127 Hours with a Film Kid: In what Brooke promises is the last Oscar update before the Oscars, we discuss the change in program this year, and why 8 categories will not be shown during the broadcast.

Licorice Pizza: After Lindsey threatens to write extremely personal fanfiction, we discuss the desire to be head empty, but the unfortunate weight of consciousness that caused us to absolutely hate this film.

Adventureland: Lindsey contemplates one man’s chokehold on a suburban town’s weed market. We also discuss the worst possible time to shake hands, an even worse name for a fondue restaurant, and Brooke’s toxic trait.

  • 38: He is a Groundhog, Not God
    Feb 14 2022

127 Hours with a Film Kid: Brooke breaks down the surprises & snubs of this years' Oscar nominations.

The Winners and Losers of the 2022 Oscar Nominations

Groundhog Day: We consider the potential length of the time loop, the casting that ended friendships, and the insane number of tragedies that happen in a small town in Pennsylvania.

Before I Fall: It's been a while since we've vicerally hated a film's premise, but boy howdy did we have a lot to rant about. We also manage to discuss heteronormative hell, the conspiracy theory of who trapped Sam in the loop and some of the worst ADR.

  • 37: A Town of Chatty Snakes
    Jan 31 2022

127 Hours with a Film Kid: Brooke walks Lindsey through her personal picks for potential Oscars host, and gives many valid reasons to why it should absolutely not be James Corden.

Never Rarely Sometimes Always: Brooke gives the history of Antz and A Bug's Life which she swears is relevant, and then we debate whether or not this is a period piece and the luggage that serves a metaphorical purpose but makes no practical sense.

Unpregnant: In Brooke and Lindsey's new favorite film, we discuss the high school rumor mill, the worst place to take a pregnancy test (surrounded by teens), and the best use of "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson.

  • 36: I Can't Solidly Say This is About Butts
    Jan 17 2022

127 Hours with a Film Kid: Brooke breaks down the people who have recently chosen violence & chaos on the internet: A fake promotional twitter account, Aaron Sorkin, and believing that giving an in depth interview on how you aren't offensive, just "silly" would come off in your favor.

    Sam Harpoon's Twitter account

    Jeremy Strong's New Yorker Profile

    Jeff Garlin's Vanity Fair interview

Eyes Wide Shut: In a film that's apparently undoubtedly a Christmas film, we discuss the film kids' disappointment at lack of porn, the worst behavior of a plus one, and one man's need to constantly prove that he's a doctor.

Starry Eyes: Lindsey tells the least fun fact quite possibly ever, causing Brooke to want to quit the podcast. Before that, they manage to discuss the Potato Hooters, and the weird cult like obsession of Chuck Palahniuk.

  • 35: The Pope is Weed
    Dec 6 2021

127 Hours with a Film Kid: Brooke has has a life update for Lindsey (unrelated to film kids), Brooke then gives an awards precursor by looking at the National Board of Review and the New York Film Critic Circle awards. Lindsey reluctantly agrees to watch a Paul Thomas Anderson film.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf: We discuss the likelihood that MGK and Megan Fox would star in a remake of this film, the point at which we would leave a party, and quite possibly the only people that would commit to bits more than Brooke and Lindsey

The Boys in the Band: Brooke has found her own version of JK Simmons/Michael Keaton, knowledge of Teen Wolf as the only requirement to date us, and the worst party game followed by the worst time to hook up at a party.

  • 34: The Vibe is Dev Patel is Hot
    Nov 22 2021

127 Hours with a Film Kid: This week, we delve into the “Marvel Question” discourse and learn which directors would or would not direct superhero movies, regardless of whether they’ve been asked to direct a superhero movie.

Slumdog Millionaire: We debate the benefits of pulling a scam on a studio, the undeniable (yet still denied) hotness of Dev Patel and the worst use of “fate” we’ve seen on the podcast.

St Trinian’s: In another film that’s only loosely about a quiz show competition, we discuss questionable 2007 jokes, the implications of discussing Colin Firth in a film that stars Colin Firth, and Lindsey’s lack of knowledge of common British terms.

  • 33: The Single Hole of a Wack-a-Mole
    Nov 8 2021

A special (belated) episode, meaning November is is still spooky month  - which is Brooke's true nightmare.

127 Hours with a Film Kid: Brooke gives a quick IATSE update, followed by Netflix's employee walkout, and Ruby Rose's allegations against CW/WBTV.

Us: A surprise pairing caused directly by Lindsey, we manage to discuss the reasons we don't want kids (mainly their ability to see shadow people), a new conspiracy Lindsey has concocted around the restaurant industry, and when is the time for men to stop being allowed to make decisions.

Replicas:  In a movie where there are literally no consequences despite setting up all of the immediate consequences, we discuss how a man ineptly tries to get away with murdering his entire family, despite not murdering his entire family. We also discover that while Lindsey may have a face-blindness for actors, it certainly is not height-blindness.

  • 32: The White Liquid of Corporate Greed
    Oct 11 2021

127 Hours with a Film Kid: After another update in the IATSE/AMPTP negotiations, we discuss the films by women filmmakers coming out this year that film kids will be talking about in the lead up to the Oscars.

Alien: Spooky Month 2021 kicks off with a film that Brooke will absolutely not be analyzing, but instead we talk about when is it acceptable to murder your coworker, and how The Who impacted the most influential sci-fi film.

Forbidden World: In a film that’s barely not porn, we manage to discuss the inherent sense of humor in aliens, the somehow unworrying presence of Molly in the air, and the perfect naming of a man named “Earl”.
