Autore di opere premiate come Cedi la strada agli alberi e Terracarne, ha fondato la "Casa della Paesologia" e diretto il Festival "La luna e i calanchi". Definito da Roberto Saviano uno dei poeti più importanti d’Italia, il suo impegno si estende anche alla valorizzazione delle aree interne e al dialogo culturale. Nel 2023 ha vinto il Premio Camaiore per Sacro Minore. Dal 2024 conduce La biblioteca dei sentimenti su Rai 3.
