FAMiliar episode 5: Black History Month

  • Summary

  • Hi everyone and welcome to a new episode of FAMiliar by FAM. In this episode, we highlight Black History Month which is celebrated by FAM in February. This year we will talk about the importance of black history and if we feel represented as black students and lecturers in higher education. We will also talk about what we think is important for black students in academia as they progress in their studies.

To discuss this we invited Dr. Brittney Mengistu, Public Health and anthropology professor at the VU and D&I advocate, Alexis the founder of Black and African Diaspora (BAAD) VU, and Olema a BAAD VU member. Hosted by Maryse our podcast committee chair.
