  • See How They Run
    Feb 3 2023

It's 2023! Good god. And Kelsey and Jenn are back with a meta murder mystery that is maybe too smart for it's own good. 2022's See How They Run is up for discussion, starring Saoirse Ronan, Sam Rockwell, Adrian Brody, Ruth Wilson, and everyone's favorite British actress, Shirley Henderson. And it's...okay? It's definitely not as good as Glass Onion, which is not a period drama but is certainly something that you should not watch right before watching See How They Run. Which is what both Jenn and Kelsey did and now have been spoiled with something fantastic right before something mediocre. Bah.

  • People & Events From History that Should Have Movies (But They Don't)
    Nov 14 2022

Welcome to Eyre on Air: The Texas Edition! We're back baby! Literally, with a baby. Another one. Oh and Joe isn't here. So you're stuck with Jenn and Kelsey as them ruminate on people, places, and things from history that should have film adaptations but they DON'T. Well, most of them anyway. This episode will help you out at pub trivia but will definitely not recap a film!

  • Mary Queen of Scots
    Jul 3 2022

We've gone back to our roots with this one. And by that we mean we've done an actual movie that was marketed as a period drama that deals with an actual, historical period of time that was very dramatic etc etc. Anyway. We're discussing the 2018 film Mary Queen of Scots, starring Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Chan, Guy Pearce, and David Tennant as the literal worst man ever. And we were surprised by how much we liked this one! Enjoy!

  • Kieu
    Jun 20 2022

Do you often find yourself wishing you had an angry, feminist ghost to attack anyone who offends you? Or maybe your husband is cheating on you and you're looking for new creative ways to both enact your revenge AND spice it up in the bedroom? Well we've got you covered! This week we're discussing the 2021 Vietnamese film Kieu, based on the epic poem "The Tale of Kieu" published in 1820. It stars Cao Thai Ha, Trinh My Duyen, Le Anh Huy, and Phuong Thanh, and was directed by Mai Thu Huyen. Happy listening!

  • Mary Shelley
    Jun 3 2022

Not only is this episode late, but I am going to give you this warning up front: Jenn and Kelsey's audio sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone. One day we will have our shit together again. Anyway, please enjoy this episode about 2018's Mary Shelley, starring Elle Fanning, Maisie Williams, Stephen Dillane, and various other young attractive people playing a bunch of brooding romantic poets. Ever sit down and think about how the year 1816 was truly a shitshow? Don't worry, we'll do it for you.

  • Raise the Red Lantern
    May 15 2022

Is it truly a proper season of Eyre on Air if we don't watch a Gong Li movie? This week we're discussing the 1991 film Raise the Red Lantern, directed by Zhang Yimou and based on the book Wives and Concubiones by Su Tong. Important talking points include America's Next Top Model (Concubine), The Muppets (as usual), and the very realistic Chinese historical drama Emperesses in the Palace. Happy listening!

  • Bridgerton Season 2 Part II
    May 2 2022

Well, you can't say we never listened to y'all.

Back by popular demand, we have part two of Bridgerton Season 2. And it's a race to see which of the Bridgerton siblings we dislike more! Plus, predictions and hopes for season 3,  tangents about old British royalty, as well as a lot of yelling at Shonda Rhimes. Hey, remember when there were gay people in Bridgerton?
