Epsiode 3: Maria Menounos

  • Summary

  • Pat Croce welcomes well-known television host, actress, and cancer survivor Maria Menounos to this episode of “Mind. Body. Spirit. Cancer.” Prior to her stage 2 neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Menounos underwent treatment for a benign brain tumor and was diagnosed with type I diabetes, among other health issues. And, although her cancer was not initially diagnosed, she is thankful that it was finally found when it was and that she is alive today as a mom to her newborn daughter. In her remarks, Menounos discusses how she went from being a caregiver for her mom who was battling brain cancer, to a patient when she started to have health issues at the same time. She’s a firm believer in leading a healthy lifestyle, and a staunch proponent of being your own health advocate, stating, “We have to take control of our own health.”    Relevant Links:   - cancer.org/cancer/types/pancreatic-neuroendocrine-tumor.html   - cancer.org/cancer/types/brain-spinal-cord-tumors-adults.html   - cancer.org/dietactivity   - cancer.org/caregiverguide   - cancer.org/survivors   - cancer.org/acscares
