Currently the Mineral Resource Manager at Sibanye-Stillwater, the world's third largest producer of gold, Labuschagne achieved his dream 20 years ago already when he started out in the mining industry as Senior Geologist at AngloGold Ashanti. Having spent time in the diamond industry on the west coast of Africa too, Labuschagne however found his niche in gold, but, as he warns, local gold operations are currently marginal.
