Episode 50 - 'Eating Smoke' In Conversation with Veteran, Author & Adventurer Chris Thrall

  • Summary

  • Welcome back everyone for a unique and inspiring episode. Today we have an extraordinary special guest to discuss his battle with early life childhood trauma and how he rose from the depths of ruin after 7 years in the Royal Marine Commandos, Methamphetamine addiction and a period working for the Hong Kong Criminal Underworld within the infamous HK24 Triad crime family.

Our guest Chris Thrall is a devoted loving father, a military veteran, an author of 6 books the first of which was the world best selling ‘Eating Smoke’, he’s an adventurer who has set foot in 85 countries over 7 continents, an extreme athlete, a qualified skydiver and skuba diver, the host on his ‘Bought The T-Shirt Podcast’ which is one of the most popular podcasts out there, he’s a philosopher, a philanthropist, a life coach and most importantly for me a truly enlightened human being who embraces sacrifice to help others any way he can.

Many people live what we would call an interesting life ticking off their bucket lists and stretching the boundaries of what they thought their limits were as they progress through life. Our guest today, Chris Thrall goes way beyond that, he truly is on another level. Chris as you will find out has a heart the size of a lion, a will to match and a drive and attitude beyond what most people can even comprehend and its these qualities that have helped him achieve challenges that most people wouldn’t even consider possible.

In our discussion we cover the topic of childhood trauma and how it affects a large percentage of the adult world population unbeknown usually to those suffering from it to the severe detriment of their adult life. Individuals suffering from early life PTSD can embark down destructive life paths that lead to addiction, violence, family break ups and suicide. Chris’s story is a message to all those suffering from these traumas that these emotional and spiritual scars can be healed. We also get into some deep philosophical areas on a spiritual level as we discuss a lot of the issues we see in the world today that have our society crumbling beneath our feet orchestrated by ‘The Big Club’, the super elite psychopaths who’s hidden hand is steering us towards destruction.

We finish the episode with Chris summarising the extreme physical challenges he has undertaken over his recovery journey ahead of his next challenge (Oceans Elite) in December where he will set out unaided to row across the Atlantic with fellow ex-serviceman and friend Christopher Greenhalgh. A remarkable man, a remarkable enlightened human being and a show you won’t want to miss. Chris is REAL, there’s no hidden bullshit or agendas, that’s a rarer combination than a Dodo’s Egg in the modern world.
