Steve Emt was born in Manchester, Connecticut, and raised in Hebron, Connecticut. He grew up playing multiple sports, including three in High school – soccer, basketball, and baseball. He was recruited to play both soccer and basketball at West Point. Following West Pointe, he walked on to the basketball team at the University of Connecticut. At eh age of 25, Emt was paralyzed from the waist down in a drunk driving accident. Sport being in his blood, he tried many different adaptive sports before he found curling. He is a two-time Paralympian in both 2018 and 2022. He is also a teacher, basketball coach, motivational speaker, and author.
