Episode 182: Oppenheimer

  • Summary

  • As we close up shop on Season 7, we could not leave without talking about arguably the biggest movie of 2023. With 7 Oscars and an unfathomable amount of other prestigious awards, Oppenheimer is a once in a lifetime opportunity (or Oppentunity, if you will.) Christopher Nolan has finally unleashed Cillian Murphy to his fullest potentials, and Nolan's directing capabilities and Murphy's acting powers are both truly staggering. While 2023 was an amazing year for films, there was none better than this cautionary tale about the horrors we face and the guilt we carry regarding nuclear war. So put on your wide brimmed hat and light up that cigarette as we discuss this absolute masterpiece. We'll also reminisce over Barbenheimer, deliberate on virtual international disarmament in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, break down the ad sponsored collapsible room for American schools, and a ton (20,000 tons, to be precise) more. And we'll give you the rundown on upcoming bonus episodes in our off season, our thoughts on the 2024 Oscars, and a note about when to look for Season 8.

Thank you so, so much for making this season a truly fantastic one!
