  • पन्द्रहवें दिन तक पहुँचते-पहुँचते रणभूमि के युद्ध में नियम जैसा कुछ भी शेष नहीं बचा था। इस दिन द्रोण ने कई-कई योद्धाओं को मृत्यु से आलिंगन करवाया। श्रीकृष्ण के सुझाव पर असत्य का सहारा लेकर भीमसेन ने अश्वत्थामा के मारे जाने की सूचना द्रोण तक पहुँचाई। युधिष्ठिर द्वारा इस बात का सत्यापन भी किया गया। अन्ततः द्रोण को धृष्टद्युम्न ने निःशस्त्र अवस्था में मार दिया। जिस पर क्रोधित होकर अश्वत्थामा ने पाण्डव सेना पर नारायणास्त्र का सन्धान किया।By the time the fifteenth day reached, there was nothing left like rules in the battle of the Ranbhoomi. This was also verified by Yudhishthira. Finally, Drona was killed by Dhrishtadyumna in an unarmed state. Enraged by this, Ashwatthama attacked the Pandava army with Narayanastra.
