Manifesto (on DJ Pierre’s Facebook Page)

    What happened to the DJ?

    What happened to the dancer?

    What happened to the music?

What happened to the “Love of music?”

Well if I may chime in…..

Honestly when I first started, it definitely was not about money, there was no money making career at the time in being a DJ. In fact to be honest the thought of making money or a career doing this had never entered my mind.  For me and most of us at the time we did this just for the pure pleasure of expressing one’s skill at delivering this new sound called house music as creatively as possible in order to make the people dance in clubs and parties.  You wouldn’t believe the joy and love we got at seeing people dancing on the floor to our particular style of Djing. That was truly payment in and of itself. It was a symbiotic relationship between the DJ and the dancer. We became connected in the oneness of musical vibration, and sound as we both became a slave to the rhyme, just as a puppet on a string perfectly synced as we perform for ourselves and each other to this symphonic heart beat of melody, rhythm, and love.  But that was then……

Soon it became evident that electronic/house etc, would grow to become less about dancing, the art from, the culture or the music, and absolutely ONLY about business, money, control and the total italicization of the DJ had taken over that’s when DJ elitism and the system of gatekeeping came to power as the driving system behind our music.  (purposely done, and socially engineered to do so btw)

It’s not about creating amazing, music destined to be a future classic, or instilling the uniqueness of individual personality within the music or the appreciation of wanting the DJ to take you on a musical journey achieving that special natural organic love experience of the music anymore……. All that’s dead, no one cares, people simply try to manufacture this experience outside of the music by using drugs and todays club and festival digital technologies.  Music is no longer the focal point for the journey, in fact there is no journey.  People only go out now based on the  popularity of the DJ, but it’s weird because they have no specific connection to his/her/etc. music, just to his/her/etc. God like popularity or status.  Most of these DJ’s today with a million or more followers have no past musical accomplishments that add up to why they have the position they have, their credibility is simply the huge amount of followers.

. But what about the music?  The lebel of skill they possess?  The musical acumen?  When does that kick in, if ever?

Value is not based on deeds anymore, or ur sound, how you’ve impacted people’s lives over the years, or your innovation, all of that is irrelevant in today’s hollow system of emptiness, devoid of any real abiding musical/art or uniquely creative values.

But, what happened to the music what happened to the dancer, what happened to the DJ? What happened to the love?

    We

            Are

                      No

                               More.
