Episode 1: The Eternal City, Part 1

  • Summary

  • On the personal invitation of Marcus Aurelius Antoninus, Caesar of Rome, we find ourselves on the outskirts of the Eternal City. Built nine centuries ago, this city will see Hellenic and Christian culture spread to nearly all corners of Europe, where it will form the bedrock of medieval, and later modern, European culture. But for now, we are about to explore Ancient Rome as it was at the height of the Empire's power, with the Eternal City as its glorious capital.

Wander with us as we visit such incredible sights as the Pantheon, the Capitoline Hill, and the plazas of the Imperial Forums, and witness the militaristic glory, the gardens, the political conspiracies, and the bathing culture of the Roman people in the very first episode of There's a Time and a Place For That.
