Ep.7 Emma Lees on studying to be a teacher, tackling deafness and navigating a degree during COVID-19

  • Summary

  • Emma Lees was diagnosed as partially deaf at 4 years old. She went through primary and secondary school as a deaf student at a mainstream school. She swam for Deaf GB in Russia, as part of the European Championship, before getting injured and missing the Worlds. She discusses her experience through school, university and swimming and the lessons she learnt through her disability. Emma is now training to be a teacher and hopes to inspire the next generation! A really fascinating episode of disability, competitive sport and finding the correct level of support at university.
