    Al convento di Monza, Lucia scopre la triste storia di Suor Gertrude, costretta alla monacazione, decisa dal padre prima ancora della sua nascita. Nel frattempo, l'Innominato, unico in grado di sfidare la protezione della Badessa, convoca al suo castello Egidio, amante segreto di Gertrude, e chiede all'uomo di rapire Lucia. La suora, inizialmente riluttante, cede poi alle richieste del suo amante.Il Nibbio, scagnozzo dell'Innominato, riesce a rapire Lucia, con la complicità di Gertrude, e a portarla al castello del suo padrone.
