When my friend told me she wanted to get a tattoo of Henry James on her arm, I’ll admit I was skeptical, but this week’s guest, Phu Phi Nguyen, did a spectacular job. Phu Phi doesn’t usually tattoo portraits at all, saving them for her paintings and murals. Her usual tattoo style is incredibly fine-lined, detailed, and beautiful. True works of art, often reserved for flowers and plants. Now co-owner of her own Parisian tattoo shop, Monkeys Factory, Phu Phi also specializes in “therapeutic tattoos” for breast cancer survivors with mastectomy scars, burn victims, and other survivors.
What is it that draws Phu Phi to fine-line tattooing and bold, graphic murals? How does she bring these two seemingly-opposite worlds together? Listen now to find out!

About Us
Who will be the world's next Salvador Dali, Thierry Mugler, or Josephine Baker, launching a new wave of the avant-garde? How are new artforms created, developed, honed? And where exactly do today's artists and creatives find their inspirations?
Each week, join City of Muses host Jennifer Geraghty as she sits down with contemporary artists, poets, dancers, designers, and performers to explore what inspires them, what their creative processes are like, where their ideas come from, and how Paris has helped or hindered their dreams come true.
Inspiration and creativity meet in Paris, the City of Muses.
