At the onset of the British Invasion, he signed Herman's Hermits and placed them with Columbia UK and producer Mickie Most. As is well known, Herman's Hermits were one of the British pop groups of the time, like the Dave Clark Five, Peter & Gordon, and Chad & Jeremy.
