Ep 27 / Western States 100 with Kelly Hutchins

  • Summary

  • Welcome to the Lace Up and Run Podcast. We believe in a fun and active lifestyle with a primary focus on running and hiking. There is a supply of bourbon in the podcast studio so there is pretty much a guarantee there might be some of Kentucky's finest consumed during the show.

    Episode 27:
Ultra Marathoner Kelly Hutchins joins the podcast to discuss his recent Western States 100 finish. Western States is one of the, if not the, most iconic 100 mile races in the country.  Western States is the oldest 100 mile race in the world.

Kelly discusses how he trained and prepared for the race and the approach that he took to just soak it all in and have a good time.  The lottery to get in and 7 years of waiting before being selected are just a few of the topics we break down.

Overall, it was a fun interview with some moments of emotion. Enjoy!
