Ep 15: Phoebe Leona, The 109th bead?

  • Summary

  • Liam Browne author of ‘Dealer Healer- A Modern Tale of a Fucked up Male’ finds gritty, honest and true stories of real people and how they have turned their lives around in a positive and inspiring way.

Todays guest is Phoebe Leona, American Yoga Teacher, Podcaster, Author, and creator of nOMad tribe which is a collective global community of yogis, wellness practitioners, healers, travelers, and wanderers of all kinds. We had a beautiful chat about her journey to epic facilitator of human healing and transformation and how her life seems to have been in preparation for her most recent creation Movement 109. Mvt109 achieves both of these things through dance and expression and allows people an alternative to a conventional normal yogic healing journey.

At first glance, you might see Phoebe as the girl next door. Go deeper and meet a woman who has lived several lives within this lifetime. The stories she will share with you, both on and off the mat, are awe-inspiring tales of strength, resilience, grace, hope, and gratitude.

Phoebe finds gratitude in the magical, simple, and even the tragic moments in life. She sees that all of these are gifts from the universe to guide us in the discovering of our deepest treasures and desires.

Some have said that Phoebe leads a life full of alchemy, creating something out of nothing, but she believes we all have this power. Phoebe teaches that if we take time to step back, look a little closer at our roadmaps, observe our interconnectedness, and dig a little deeper, we all have the power to create a magical life.

The 109th bead on Buddist Mala prayer beads is a pause of silence, gratitude, and acknowledgment. It is similar to the Biblical term, Selah, which placed at the end of a passage acts as a pause of Amen but where Amen is an ending, Selah is a transitional pause of introspection, rumination, and meditation. In ballet, there is the act of reverence. Reverence does more than signal the end of class or the end of a performance, it is the acknowledgment of the tradition of the art of ballet, the lineage of teachers that stands before us as our teacher, and a moment of gratitude for all who have participated. There exists a term for a pause of great meaning in philosophies, theologies, and disciplines in all walks of life. And in many cases, this pause is part of a ceremony or habit wherein practitioners engage in this pause with regularity.
