Ep 122. Prepisode for Philemon: Paul's heartfelt appeal (Women's Bible Study)

  • Summary

  • Y'all I am super excited for this week. We are moving into our winter program and for the next two weeks we will look at the two books of the New Testament which stand alone with just ONE CHAPTER!!

This week is the book of Philemon. This is a deeply personal letter from the apostle Paul to his friend, with an important request. Paul follows an ancient Greek and Roman philosophy formula designed in three steps for maximum acquiescence:

    1) Build rapport with your audience

    2) Pursuade them that your request is legitimate

    3) Target the emotions

As you read this week, consider how Paul implements each of these steps while forming his appeal to Philemon.

Join me next week for the full discussion of this beautiful letter.
