    "Man mano che la nostra dipendenza dai dispositivi e dai servizi online cresce, aumenta anche il nostro bisogno di energia per alimentarli. Questa necessità contribuisce alla creazione di anidride carbonica responsabile, come altri inquinanti, del riscaldamento globale.

    Secondo il report Lean Ict – Towards Digital Sobriety, nel 2008, computer, dispositivi elettronici e infrastrutture digitali hanno contribuito per il 2% alle emissioni globali di CO2; nel 2020 al 3,7% e si prevede che toccheranno l’8,5% nel 2025, pari alle emissioni di tutti i veicoli leggeri in circolazione".
