Don't brainwash kids with religion and politics - instead let them play, explore, and be creative

  • Summary

  • Kids come into the world full of creativity, and curiosity, but adults shut down who a child truly is by instilling fear through Christian teachings of hell and the rapture, confusion around sexuality and gender before they are ready to be exposed to those topics, guilt around their skin color, polarization through labels and telling kids which groups of people are 'good' and 'bad,' and the insanity of school shootings and having to walk through metal detectors in order to get to class.

In this episode, Morgan and I talk about our sadness over seeing these topics crop up so often, our fear about the cost of speaking up and saying what we really believe, and we discuss two heroes who helped un-brainwash us.

We also discuss how to raise free-thinking kids like her daughters, and how to continually identify and unravel the brainwashing (and subsequent fear and biases) that we all have in some shape or form.

This is a controversial, difficult episode, but we really tried to open our hearts and speak from a place of truth and wisdom. We hope that you find value and meaning from it and that the ways we describe brainwashing - and what we can do to unbrainwash ourelves and protect our kids - can, well, help you and your loved ones become more of who you truly are!
