  • Navajo Beef Program: Elevating Small Producers
    Jul 11 2022
Over the course of the last fifteen years, the Padre Mesa Demonstration Ranch has bloomed on the high desert of Northern Arizona under the leadership of Bill Inman and his dedicated team of Navajo rangeland managers that work on the ranch. Padre Mesa’s best practices for range management, herd health and access to markets is a source of pride to the Navajo families that were forcibly relocated as a result of the Navajo Hopi Land Settlement Act of 1974. If Bill is the head and leader of the ranch. Kimberly Yazzie is the face, heart and soul of NAB. Relocated as a small child, Yazzie was key to bringing community members to the table at chapter houses and then later joined forces with Labatt Company to market their beef. The two have elevated the local community, as well as that of other beef producers from Native American tribes in the southwest. Through education, cooperation and a shared vision, they have created a beef label that is recognized for being superior, consistent and highly sought after.
