Dealing with end-of-life patients

  • Summary

  • In this episode, I talked about my experiences in residency training. Whenever I get the chance to meet a patient, I always see to it that I could say these three words before I leave them: “Pagaling po kayo! (Get well soon!)”. Those simple words you can say can actually mean a lot to them. More often than not, you will also receive a “Salamat po! (Thank you!)” or a brimming smile from them… It is just fulfilling. But now that I am dealing with patients who are already in their "end-stage" or "end-of-life" situations, I can no longer say those words to them. Knowing too well that there is already no cure to their disease, what kind parting words can we tell them?Join me as I try find those words here.
