Welcome to week #8 of Becoming the Bride Series.

Psalms 1:3 says, “You are like a tree, planted by flowing, cool streams of water that never run dry. Your fruit ripens in its time; your leaves never fade or curl in the summer sun. No matter what you do, you prosper.”

The command to be fruitful and multiply starts in the book of Genesis and extends all the way through to the end in the book of Revelation. At first it was a spiritual blessing given to Adam and Eve in the Garden then it was made into a covenant and a command when Christ commissioned His church.

We are to bear good fruit as we stay connected to the vine, but we are also told to multiple and make disciples.

“… so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work,” … Colosians 1:10

From the beginning, God established a culture of generosity with the Old Testament laws and commands on how to care for the poor, widows, orphans and resident aliens. However, we see Jesus take this culture of generosity and He shows us not just how to cultivate a lifestyle of generosity, but how to live a lifestyle of generosity through all we do and say. Generosity is about much more than giving money or of our time. It is about reflecting the love and compassion of God’s nature and His character to others.

2 Corinthians 9:11 says, “You will be made rich in everything so that your generosity will spill over in every direction. Through us your generosity is at work inspiring praise and thanksgiving to God.”

God calls His people to live practically, prophetically with love. He wants to us to hear and speak directly to Him without having to go through another person. As the Bride of Christ we are called to be a continuation of the Acts church, speaking, walking and behaving like Jesus taught.
