  • Summary

  • Can finding the perfect partner - whether in friendship, business, love or otherwise – help us reach our full potential?

Our relationships can challenge us. They evolve over time. Sometimes they’re fleeting. But when managed properly they can unlock our best selves.

In Coupledom, Idris & Sabrina Elba sit down with some of the world’s most interesting duos for honest, unguarded conversations about all the complexities of living a shared life. Along the way, they’ll unlock wisdom for those of us navigating our own coupledoms, and for those still seeking their perfect match.

  • Ep 1: Nadiya & Abdal Hussain: Rearranged
    Jun 23 2021

Can you imagine building a life with someone you had barely met? Idris & Sabrina sit down with Nadiya Hussain – the breakout star of The Great British Bake Off – and her husband Abdal to talk about living in an arranged marriage and how that marriage had to change when Nadiya entered the public eye.

Coupledom discusses mature themes and in this episode there is a reference to sexual abuse which some listeners may find upsetting. Listener discretion is advised. If any of the themes in this conversation have affected you, then there are links to organisations that may help you.

  • Ep 3: Mary & Sharon Bishop-Baldwin: A Shelter in the Storm
    Jun 23 2021

For most of us, wedding planning means shopping for dresses and touring venues. For Mary & Sharon, it meant suing the government for the right to get married in the first place. Their case – which went all the way to the US Supreme Court – was a pivotal milestone in the fight for marriage equality. How did their partnership sustain them through their decade long legal battle – and why was it a battle they felt called to take on in the first place?

Loved the variety

An exploration into what makes strong relationships work. Love that they didn't restrict interviews to just one type of relationship. Life has so much to offer and explore and this collection was a great cross section to start the process rolling.
