The two-story Victorian home was completed in 1887 and was owned by one of the founders of Colfax, James Allen Perkins. Mr. Perkins had his hand in many aspects of the community, from business to politics. Mr. Perkins passed in 1920, the home then was occupied by his wife, Jennie. After his death, Mr. Perkins' son, Sumner, and his wife, Ethel, moved into the home with Jennie to bring back life and laughter to the home.
