Cin/Drome 1.6: Fernando García-Valiño Carbó

  • Summary

  • Another fascinating glimpse into my guest's brain via the medium of their film choices.

We learn early that Fernando went to university in Spain to study being a Private Detective and that really sets the scene for a pretty forensic exploration of cinema.

We cover Ernst Lubitsch 1930s Great War drama Broken Lullaby and David Lynch's masterpiece of Hollywood introspection Mulholland Drive, with nods and winks to documentaries from Ross McElwee, the Nouvelle Vague masters Claude Chabrol and Jean Luc Godard, and the Coen Brothers' cult comedy The Big Lebowski along the way.

We start, however, with a bang, in 1990 with a very young boy exploring the cinema itself while Days of Thunder plays in the background.

A great ride from start to finish... enjoy!
