Can a Convicted Felon Run for President

  • Summary

  • In today's episode of Lest We Forget Historical, host Lillian Cauldwell discusses the 14th Amendment and its provisions about whether a convicted candidate running for President is banned from taking office if convicted of being a felon.

After a fact check, it is established that nowhere in the US Constitution does it prohibit anyone from taking office unless they have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution and "engaged in insurrection." However, in March 2024, the Supreme Court required that Congress act for it to be enforced.
