Burn Bright

  • Summary

  • Burn Bright host their yearly round-up for 2020, their inaugural year, ahead of an anthology of conversations with inspiring creative womxn to follow in 2021. Burn Bright is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to drive positive change for writers who identify as women in theatre. We aim to level the playing field wherever possible - creating a network and opportunities to build writers up, lobbying for change, and calling out inequality and bad practice where we see it. Burn Bright was born out of a situation in which co-founders Sarah Henley and Tori Allen-Martin's work was erased, in a theatrical landscape which lacks equality, and where plays written by women are rarely seen on big stages. Our 2020 round up. Our Co-founders Sarah Henley & Tori Allen-Martin reflect on what they've learned in Burn Bright's inaugural year. We cover everything from speaking out when you're told not to, being brave, writing letters to the Queen, being a first aid superstar, whether the Tory party have met other humans and comfortable pregnancy positions.
