On this week's episode we are delighted to welcome Buckinghamshire O60s 2nd XI captain and prolific sports author David Tossell.
David has written 20 books largely about cricket and football in the 1970s - the era when most listeners to this podcast were avidly following cricket even though media coverage was scant.
David's latest book 'Blood on the Tracks' is a masterpiece of research and writing covering the infamous Ashes series of 1974/75 when England came up against Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson in combination for the first time.
England would lose 4 of the first 5 tests with one drawn winning only the 6th and final test when Thomson was out injured and Lillee was injured just six overs into the match.
It was a brutal series with numerous England players being injured by this torrent of fast bowling the unrelenting hostility of which they had never previously encountered. And this at a time when helmets weren't around and upper body protection was minimal and very rudimentary.
We are delighted that David has offered listeners the opportunity to win a signed hardback copy of the book. To do so answer the question that Grant poses during the episode and send your answer to use via either the text message button at the top of these notes or via an email to podcast@trevorleemedia.co.uk ensuring you include a contact email and postal address.
