  • Sultan Birinci Ahmed babası Üçüncü Mehmed'in Saruhan Valiliği sırasında 28 Nisan 1590'da Manisa'da doğdu. Annesi Hamdan Sultandır. Babasının 22 Aralık 1603'de ölümü üzerine 14. Osmanlı Padişahı olarak 14 yaşında tahta geçti. İlk işi 3. Murad ve 3. Mehmed devirlerinde devlet işlerine müdahaleleriyle çeşitli olaylara sebebiyet veren Safiye Sultanı eski saraya göndermek oldu. Bu sırada İran ve Avusturya ile olan savaş hali devam ediyordu.
