Everyone talks about career advancement (residency, fellowship, research). No one talks about what to do nothing goes to plan.

In this next episode, Yarelis Díaz Rohena, PharmD and I will touch on early career setbacks and how to find the courage to begin again. After several unsuccessful attempts at passing the Naplex, Yare had to take a step back to reflect on her career. Although the setback was hard, she was not willing to give up. She is now thriving in her new role as an acute care pharmacist and is aiming to become an oncology pharmacist in the future.
“Yarelis Diaz-Rohena, PharmD was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, before completing a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. After completing a fellowship at NCODA, she worked there as the Associate Manager of Education. She is now a pharmacist at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, New York. Despite facing challenges with the NAPLEX, passing on the third attempt, she is now licensed in both Florida and New York. Passionate about mentoring, Yarelis is dedicated to helping students and young professionals overcome self-doubt and the challenges of pharmacy school and licensure exams. She also runs the Instagram account PharmDAndMe, transparently sharing her pharmacy journey since her P1 year.”
