    Welcome back to AWB Podcast. In this Week Episode – We look at the history of AWB? Who is the founder and learn more about Garrett & the Mission of AWB.

    Purpose of AWB Podcast

    The goal of the Athletes Without Borders / AWB STEAM/Sports podcast is to be the preeminent podcast focused on educating, informing, and engaging adults, parents of students, K-12/ College students, or those listeners seeking a career exploration within the STEAM and Sports genres. Through our guests, we will highlight ambassadors in STEAM and Sports, provide dialogue on what it takes to thrive in these industries, provide access to opportunities year-round, and help all of our listeners understand why diversity matters.

    GARRETT OSUMAH, FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Garrett Osumah serves as Executive Director and oversees all aspects of the organization, including the development of youth programs, fundraising, corporate partnerships, and work with donors, volunteers, and board members. Garrett credits the guidance and mentoring received through his own involvement in youth athletics for his own personal development which sparked his passion for working with at-risk youth. Since founding Athletes Without Borders in 2012, Garrett has worked tirelessly to create programs that empower youth to use athletics as a vehicle to reach their full potential. Garrett has led Marketing and Branding efforts in the past for EMC and TD Bank Financial Group. In 2009, Garrett founded the sports management company Precision Sports Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Morehouse College. He also holds an MBA in Strategic Marketing and International Finance From Northeastern University and a Masters in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University.

    KANYE L. GARDNER, CO-HOST, FOUNDER – THE ONE BIG VILLAGE, LLC 

    Kanye L. Gardner is a forward-thinking and purpose-driven Supply Chain Management and Organizational Development Specialist with 20 years of experience. He is currently the Director of Continuous Quality Improvement for Office of Assessment, Accreditation & Continuous Quality Improvement Wayne State University School of Medicine. Kanye has a true understanding of the student experience not only as a former student-athlete but as a person being born, raised, and educated in Detroit. In addition to Kanye’s professional background, he has been coaching high school football since 2002. He has led mentor and leadership programs at Penske and Ryder. Currently, he works with The Network – WSU Faculty and Administration-led – Student Mentorship Program. Also, WSU PwC MPREP Scholars – WSU School of Business Mentorship program. Finally, he volunteers as a member of several non-profit boards and community engagement organizations.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Logistics from Wayne State University. He also holds an MBA in Organizational Development and Leadership from Wayne State University. Finally, he holds a certification in Life Coaching and is the founder of The One Big Village, LLC Leadership & Life Coaching and host of The One Big Village Podcast.
